First Annual CATC Conference

February 10-11, 2011
Napa, California

More than 100 leaders from California's alternative route to certification programs gathered in February for the First Annual California Teacher Corps Conference. Napa Valley served as the ideal locale for our leaders to engage with one another and gain a new perspective on the state of teacher preparation. From big speakers to small group discussions, conference attendees were inspired, intrigued and invigorated.

  • Glen Thomas, Former California Secretary of Education, addressed why the work of the Teacher Corps is so important to California
  • Jed Wallace, CEO of the California Charter Schools Association, spoke to why an alternative pathway sometimes makes more sense than a traditional one
  • Researcher Janna Siegel Robertson presented new data on alternative certification
  • Andy Goodman, Founder of Good Ideas for Good Causes, taught conference attendees why a good story is key to non-profit success and how to create one
