Second Annual CATC Conference

February 9-10, 2012
Napa, California

California's alternative route to certification programs gathered in February 2012 to build their skills to lead courageously at our Second Annual California Teacher Corps Conference. Napa Valley set the stage for our programs to collaborate and inspire each other, helping shape the future of teacher preparation. We experienced a lineup of renowned thought leaders and gained invaluable knowledge in our small group discussions.

Our President, Tania Schalburg-Dykes, kicked off the conference with a motivating speech, and that was only the beginning.

Conference Highlights:

  • Kaya Henderson, Chancellor of Washington, D.C. Public Schools, shared her inspiring journey into teaching, and the impact of quality educators in her school districts.
  • U.S. Department of Education's Beatriz Ceja offered a national perspective on alternative certification
  • Karen Hough, author of The Improvisation Edge, lead our group through creative concepts on how to lead courageously and build trust.
  • Speaker and author Dr. Robert Kriegel introduced us to new, positive ways of approaching challenges in our work.
  • President Elect of the National Association for Alternative Certification Dr. Michelle Haj-Broussard shared her work as a member of the Louisiana State Value-Added Qualitative Research Team.
